BIOGRAPHY / ARTIST BACKGROUND

The poetics of detail and matter

Born in Córdoba in 1955, my career is a round trip between technical precision and the freedom of the canvas. My training as a draftsman and my time at the Massana School, along with collaboration with designer Tomás Vellvé, gave my gaze a rigorous structure.

However, it has been my self-taught path in painting that has allowed me to break molds and find my own voice. Throughout a life that has moved from the effervescence of Sao Paulo to the light of the Mediterranean in Alcudia or the Bajo Maestrazgo, my work has become an exploration of matter and its memory.

I currently reside in Traiguera, surrounded by the landscapes that nourish my brush today.

—   Art Critique   —

Casado's surprising painting astounds us with a very careful technical support that allows him a mastery of anecdote on the edge of magic. So real are these beings that they may seem like unreal creatures emerging from the depths of the thought of an absolutely lucid and observant creator.
Casado's painting is committed to the plastic of our time and bets heavily on technique, far from any concession or the temptation to fall into an easy and comfortable line. An absolutely interesting painting.
